blogoversary

it is my 2nd blogoversary today. i am very happy having hosted this space for two years now. and for several reasons. it motivates me to knit. i love to knit, but i also love to knit and exchange ideas with others. and your nice comments inspire me to knit more, i am sure. i have met many nice people in cyberspace. i am continually intrigued by all the friendliness a mutual interest generates. look at the top picture. it is the loveliest little japanese tea box fra kent , a very skilled knitter, living in kent, washington. he had the courtesy to send me this tea plus a large chocolate santa for christmas. i gulped the chocolate. but i am a little tight with using the tea. and when i have finished it, i think i will keep my sewing thread and needles in the box remembering a wonderful knitter friend on the other side of the globe.
the hat (lousy quality) is fern glade by megan marshall from knitty in the left overs from st. brigid. a nice toasty hat and a fun knit. i use it all the time along with my three poroms. i love wearing a hat in the winter. there is a certain cosyness about it.
oh well, i think i should host a little competition. the rules are easy. leave a comment stating your favourite colour and i will send you some yarn of danish origin in that colour, if you win. enough for a nice little project like a cowl or mittens or something. i think colours are half the knitting. for many years i loved blue and i thought i'd never fall out of love. but the last many years i have been falling for greens, browns and even ochre. i also have a dream of knitting a primary yellow slouchy hat at some point.
oh and for those of you who have been following my blog. i cannot begin to say how much i love teaching adults again. one of my classes are illiterate people and i get happy seeing their joy of learning the alphabet and writing the wobbly letters. it is so worthwhile.
i will leave this little competition open until the 20th. good luck.

Happy Blogoversary!

I was going to post that anyway, but with a contest at hand... :) It's hard to say what my favorite color is, I love so many. I always love red, but I've been liking purple a lot recently (not that I ever dislike it). I like dark green a lot, too.

Bless you for teaching people to read. I know a lot of teachers (my mother and husband, among others), and they're all amazing, but I believe that reading is one of the most important things a person can ever learn.

Happy Blogaversary! I am looking at berets to knit, I keep seeing them everywhere. yours looks lovely. My favorite color....hmmm....I think any shade of green - blue greens and gray greens especially. Or blue. Or red. I guess I'd better stick with my first choice. Glad the teaching is going well.

My favourite colour changes a lot.
These dark winter days I vote for orange.

Happy blogoversary! The time flies doesn't it! Glad you're enjoying the new job. It's very rewarding to see people learning new skills, isn't it?
My favourite colour? Gosh, I suppose sea-greens or reds. Although Autumnal browns have been calling to me recently...

Happy Blogoversary!

That has got to be so rewarding- teaching someone to read who may never otherwise. What a wonderful thing to do.

Fun- foreign yarn! Hmmm, blues, greens, purples- anything on the cool side of the spectrum...

Happy blogititch! I know what you mean about the motivation - it's strange how much the blog readership means to me.

I have a lot of beloved colours but I think I will go with green, or purple. Thanks for the contest!

Happy blogoversary : ) I am right there with you on color--I go crazy in yarn stores just seeing all the colors. A lot of shades will grab me, but my hands-down favorite is green.

Happy Blogiversary! I followed you from BrooklynTweed's site and glad I did. I'm in a houseful of males so my favorite color is pink. I tend to like to go against the grain.

I am so glad you are loving your job! Teaching (especially language teaching) is something I'm very passionate about, too.

Whoops!

I forgot about my favorite colors:

*Yellow* (this is new for me, it's beginning to grow on me -the ochre / goldenrod / canary shades ESPECIALLY when it's mixed in with gray - like the sunset in the Pacific Northwest - with the sun's rays piercing the gray clouds)

*Orange* (muted shades)

*Green* (because it matches my eyes)
